SAUSHEC is one of two major Department of Defense (DoD) multi-service graduate health education platforms; the other is National Capital Consortium (NCC) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. SAUSHEC is the second largest DoD physician graduate medical education (GME) platform and the largest for the Air Force. It hosts 37 GME specialty programs with 638 interns, residents and fellows (380 Air Force, 255 Army, and 3 Navy). Additionally, SAUSHEC is the largest DoD graduate-level allied health education (GAHE) platform, sponsoring 22 programs with 77 trainees (57 Army, 16 Air Force, and 5 Navy). SAUSHEC’s training programs are primarily located at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and the 59th Medical Wing’s Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC).
